Trichophyton rubrum infection of the prepuce.
نویسنده
چکیده
Sir, Dermatophyte infection of the penis and scrotum is rare. It is difficult to explain why the penile shaft is generally not involved in patients affected by tinea cruris. Glans penis involvement is considered even rarer, whereas dermatophytosis of the prepuce has not been reported in the literature. Here we report a patient who presented with scaly lesion on the prepuce, which on investigation was found to be due to Trichophyton rubrum.

PCR Typing of Trichophyton Rubrum Isolates by Specific Amplification of Subrepeat Elements in Ribosomal DNA Nontranscribed Spacer
Background: Trichophyton rubrum (T. rubrum) is the most common cause of dermatophytosis of skin and nail tissue. Strain identification in Trichophyton rubrum is important for identification of strain-related differences in infectivity potential or transmissibility and epidemiological studies. PCR typing could determine whether the original isolate is responsible for re-infection or a new strain...
متن کاملA Case Study Report of Multiple Cutaneous Lesions due to Trichophyton Rubrum
Trichophyton rubrum is an anthropophilic fungi and has recently become the most common and widely distributed dermatophyte, isolated of man. The infection usually present as superficial scaling annular patches, but the lesions may involved the extensive area of skin. A case of multiple cutaneous lesions due to T.rubrum with scaling annular patches and well marginated in much of the skin and in...
متن کاملA Trichophyton Rubrum Infection Model Based on the Reconstructed Human Epidermis - Episkin®
BACKGROUND Trichophyton rubrum represents the most common infectious fungus responsible for dermatophytosis in human, but the mechanism involved is still not completely understood. An appropriate model constructed to simulate host infection is the prerequisite to study the pathogenesis of dermatophytosis caused by T. rubrum. In this study, we intended to develop a new T. rubrum infection model ...
متن کاملThe Immunologic Response to Trichophyton Rubrum in Lower Extremity Fungal Infections
Manifestations of Trichophyton rubrum infestations, such as tinea pedis, tinea cruris, and tinea corporis, are among the most common human skin diseases seen throughout the world. About 80% of patients presenting with acute dermatophytosis respond well to topical antifungal treatment. However, the remaining 20% of patients progress into a chronic state of dermatophytosis, which is resistant to ...
متن کاملAnalysis of gene expression changes in Trichophyton rubrum after skin interaction
Trichophyton rubrum, an anthropophilic and cosmopolitan fungus, is the most common agent of superficial mycoses. In this study, T. rubrum infection was modelled by adding human skin sections to a limited medium containing glucose and cDNA microarrays were used to monitor T. rubrum gene expression patterns on a global level. We observed that exposure to human skin resulted in upregulation of the...
